Self-Service Password Reset

Step 1: Access the Password Reset Site

• Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
• Enter your email address and complete the Captcha code.

Step 2: Choose the Appropriate Option

• "I forgot my password": Use this option to reset your password, even if you remember your current password.
• "I know my password, but still can't sign in": Select this option to unlock your account if it has been locked.

Step 3: Verify Your Identity via MFA

• Follow the prompts to verify your identity using your Multifactor Authentication (MFA) method (e.g., mobile app, text, or call).

Step 4: Set Your New Password

• Create and confirm a password that meets the following requirements:
  • Minimum of 12 characters.
  • At least 1 uppercase letter.
  • At least 1 lowercase letter.
  • At least 1 number or symbol (e.g., !, @, #, $).
  • Avoid using passwords you’ve used before.

• Enter your email address and complete the Captcha code, using all lowercase letters.

Step 2: Choose the Appropriate Option

• "I forgot my password":
  Use this option to reset your password.

Step 3: Verify Your Identity via Email

• Follow the prompts to verify your identity using your personal (alternative) email address.
• Check your personal email (including spam) for a code from msonlineservicesteam@microsoft.com.
• Enter the code into the prompt. Click Next.

Step 4: Set Your New Password

• Create and confirm a password that meets the following requirements:
  • Minimum of 12 characters.
  • At least 1 uppercase letter.
  • At least 1 lowercase letter.
  • At least 1 number or symbol (e.g., !, @, #, $).

Step 5: Set Up MFA

• Continue setting up your MFA:
